WELCOME

To Future Builders of America - Learning Today...Building Tomorrow

The 21st Annual FBA Leadership Summit was a blast!   Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers and sponsors for making this a premier event for our students!

Over 72 volunteers and 92 students from 10 different schools came together for the 21st Annual FBA Leadership Summit at Circle F Dude Ranch Camp in Lake Wales, Florida, from April 29-May 2, 2026. For two and a half action-packed days, students, instructors, industry partners, alumni, and volunteers worked side-by-side to learn, lead, and build in a true hands-on construction environment. The Summit continues to be one of FBA Florida’s most meaningful events because it gives students the opportunity to experience real-world jobsite conditions while also building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Not to be outdone by last year’s projects, this year’s featured build was a brand-new head counselors’ cabin on the boys’ side of the property. The project required significant preparation before students even arrived, including prebuild work completed by several participating schools. Students helped construct the floor decking and long walls in advance, which were then transported to Circle F by FBA alumnus Tyler Smith with SmithBilt Sheds. Once on site, the pieces came together as students and volunteers tackled the many trades required to complete a new structure. The cabin project gave students exposure to nearly every phase of construction, including septic and drainfield work, plumbing, roofing, electrical, framing, and finishing details. In true Summit fashion, there was also an extra challenge: moving the existing cabin to a new location. It was no small task, but it added another memorable hands-on learning opportunity and plenty of excitement for everyone watching the process unfold. In addition to the main building project, students rotated through a wide variety of construction-related classes and activities. This year’s training included landscaping, masonry, carpentry, screens, swimming pools, and welding, giving students a chance to try different trades, work with industry professionals, and better understand the career pathways available in the construction industry. The amount of work completed in such a short time was truly impressive—not too bad for two and a half days! Of course, the Summit is about more than tools and materials. Students also participated in leadership and team-development activities designed to encourage communication, problem-solving, and collaboration. From working together on jobsite tasks to competing in our famous cardboard boat races, students had countless opportunities to build friendships, strengthen their confidence, and experience what it means to be part of a team. FBA Florida is grateful to every volunteer, instructor, school, sponsor, alumni member, and industry partner who helped make the 21st Annual Leadership Summit possible. Their time, talent, and support created an unforgettable experience for students and helped continue FBA’s mission of preparing the next generation of builders and leaders. Thank you for all you do for the program. I know you hear how much the kids love it but I don’t know if everyone sees the impact that it has on their futures. Never would I have thought that I would be helping grow a company and especially be now running the operation of a construction company when we were building cardboard boats.
